A group of four RTI activists was arrested by the Crime Branch (Unit 3, Kalyan) while accepting an extortion amount of ₹15 lakh from a contractor; the group had previously filed an RTI application with the Executive Engineer, MIDC Dombivli, alleging substandard construction work on drains and gutters in the Dombivli MIDC area, and subsequently demanded the money in exchange for withdrawing the application.
