On behalf of the Thane Police Commissionerate, under the ‘Road Safety Campaign 2026’, the innovative initiative ‘Traffic School on Wheels’ has been launched, where ‘Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha’ is not merely a slogan, but a responsibility connected to the life of every citizen. The importance of traffic rules should be instilled in the minds of citizens not merely out of fear of penalties, but for the safety of their own lives and those of others. For this purpose, ‘Traffic School on Wheels’, an initiative that takes traffic-related education directly to citizens, will use a mobile traffic school to provide students, vehicle drivers, professional drivers as well as the general public with modern guidance on traffic rules, safe driving behavior, the use of helmets and seat belts, speed limits, obeying signals, lane discipline as well as the serious consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol.

A people-oriented initiative was undertaken by the Thane Police to engage in direct dialogue with students and young professionals from various states of Northeast India who are residing in Maharashtra for education, employment, and career opportunities. Through this outreach program organized on the occasion of Republic Day 2026, an attempt was made to further strengthen the feelings of trust, security, and belonging. Thane Police has organized "Thane Carnival" to promote safe driving along with accident free driving as part of Thane Police's road safety campaign. Thaneers will get a chance to witness a grand display of e-vehicles, super bikes and vintage cars along with various programs to create awareness about traffic rules in the three-day carnival starting from Republic Day (January 26) at Saket Maidan in Thane. The exhibition, which is open to all from January 26 to 28, was inaugurated by Hon. Deputy Chief Minister of the state Shri. Eknathji Shinde.

To strengthen public trust in the police force and increase transparency and awareness about the functioning of the police, Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), Thane District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Global Care Foundation, Mumbai are organizing a public outreach initiative titled “Visit My Police Station”. The aim of the programme is to bridge the gap between citizens and the police by encouraging residents to visit their respective police stations in an open, welcoming and interactive environment. The initiative will dispel misconceptions, increase trust in the police and create awareness about legal aid services and citizens’ rights.

The facility of Siddhi Hall, which comes under the jurisdiction of Thane City Police Commissioner ate, is available under the Police Welfare Fund. The said hall is made available on rental basis for organizing weddings and other programs for police officers/officials, ministerial officers/employees and class 4 employees who are members of the Police Welfare Fund. Till now, to make a reservation for Siddhi Hall, the concerned had to come to the office and submit an application. Now, from 23/10/2025, the hall can be reserved online. Inauguration of 'Wellness Center' for Emotional and Mental Well-being of Police Personnel in Bhiwandi Under the initiative of Hon’ble Commissioner of Police, Thane, Mr. Ashutosh Dumbre, and the guidance of Hon’ble Additional Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dnyaneshwar Chavan, a new initiative titled "Wellness Center" has been launched to address the emotional and mental well-being needs of police officers and personnel. This center was inaugurated on 26/09/2025 at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 2, Bhiwandi. This initiative has been launched in collaboration with the Ahaan Foundation, co-founded by Ms. Sonali Patankar (Founder & CEO), Mr. Unmesh Joshi, and Mr. Swapnil Pange. Ahaan Foundation, a registered trust since 2012, works towards addressing the emotional and mental health needs of children and adults. The foundation strives to provide opportunities for growth, development, and psychological resilience. Through structured programs focusing on mental health awareness, early intervention, and capacity building, the foundation empowers individuals, families, and communities. Their mission includes promoting the holistic development of children, raising awareness on key social issues within communities, and driving positive change through collective action. Ahaan Foundation currently implements various mental health programs in collaboration with governments across five states, which include: • Responsible Netizenship • Cyber Wellness Centers • Autism Awareness and Training • Mental Health Services The Wellness Center at the DCP Zone 2, Bhiwandi office was inaugurated by Hon’ble Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Region, Thane), Mr. Vinayak Deshmukh. Present at the event were: • Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shashikant Borate • Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sachin Sangle • Mr. Vijay Marathe • Senior Police Inspectors from all six police stations under Zone 2 During the event, Ms. Sonali Patankar, along with Mr. Unmesh Joshi and Mr. Swapnil Pange, provided guidance to the police officers and personnel about the objectives and benefits of the initiative. Dr. Shrikant Paropkari (DCP, HQ-1) also extended valuable support in the successful implementation of this initiative.

Establishment of Cryptocurrency Investigation Unit at Thane Cyber Police Station In view of the recent surge in cyber crimes, under the initiative of the Hon’ble Commissioner of Police, Thane City, dedicated Cyber Cells have already been established at every police station within the Thane Police Commissionerate to facilitate the investigation of such offences. Recognizing the need for technical expertise in handling cyber crime cases, the Commissioner has also appointed two cyber experts at each police station. During the investigation of cyber crimes, it has been observed that criminals are increasingly misappropriating stolen amounts through cryptocurrency transactions, making it difficult to trace and recover the misappropriated funds. Considering the challenges posed by cryptocurrency in cyber crime investigations, the Hon’ble Commissioner of Police, Thane City, has taken a pioneering step by establishing a “Cryptocurrency Investigation Unit” at the Cyber Police Station on 24/09/2025. This newly inaugurated unit consists of police officers and personnel from the Economic Offences Wing and Cyber Police Station who have specialized expertise in cryptocurrency-related matters. These officers will: Provide training to all investigating officers in police stations under the Commissionerate on cryptocurrency-related investigations Assist in the investigation of such cases across various police stations This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen the fight against online fraud and help curb such offences effectively.

While investigating cyber crimes, criminals are abducting the proceeds of crime through cryptocurrency. Due to this, it is becoming difficult to trace the abducted amount and seize that amount. In such a situation, keeping in mind the need for experts related to cryptocurrency, Hon. Commissioner of Police, Thane inaugurated the Cryptocurrency Investigation Cell for the first time at the Cyber Police Thane in the Thane Police Commissionerate.

Inauguration of SMART HQ DUTY MANAGEMENT APPLICATION at Thane Police Headquarters On 11/09/2025, the SMART HQ Duty Management Application was inaugurated at the Thane Police Headquarters by Dr. Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Additional Commissioner of Police, Thane. Present on the occasion were: Mr. Shrikant Pathak, Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration) Dr. Shrikant Paropkari, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Headquarters-1 Mr. Pravin Bansod, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Headquarters-2 Along with police officers/personnel from the Police Headquarters and officials from the Wireless Department. This application will significantly enhance time management, bring transparency in duty allocation, and accelerate attendance and duty planning processes. Police officers/personnel will now receive instant notifications about their duty assignments directly on their mobile phones. In addition, the application will provide reports on: On-duty personnel Actions taken Duty relief status With this system in place, personnel will no longer be required to report physically to the headquarters for attendance. The application will allow instant access to manpower data, saving valuable time for police personnel. Senior police officers will also benefit from real-time reports on available manpower and duty assignments with just a single click. The implementation of the SMART HQ Duty Management Application at the Police Headquarters is expected to bring greater transparency and significant time savings in daily police operations. As a result, police personnel have expressed their satisfaction with the system.

With the aim of making the Thane City Police Force more citizen-centric and to effectively deliver various police services and initiatives to the public, the official social media platforms of Thane City Police — including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp — are being actively utilized. As part of this initiative, the Thane Police Commissionerate has launched the "Nirbhay Thane" WhatsApp Chat Bot service for citizens on the mobile number 70394 55555. This service was inaugurated today, on 29/08/2025, at the hands of the Hon’ble Additional Commissioner of Police, Dr. Dnyaneshwar Chavan.

A new computer system is operational for new arms licenses, license renewals, extensions, interstate licenses, flammable licenses, ORCHESTRA and bar licenses issued at the Police Commissioner's Office. To bring ease and uniformity in the licensing process, a LICENCE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE SYSTEM based on modern technology has been launched. Through this computer system, SMS facility is available to the license holders regarding license renewal. A single window scheme has been implemented from 07 April 2025 to bring consistency and dynamism in administrative work.

To provide ease and uniformity in the process of visiting the Police Commissioner's office, a modern technology based visitor management system has been started. Daily/weekly and monthly analysis is being done regarding visitor visits. Citizens have been provided the facility to register their views.

'Yuva Samvad Concept' programs were organized in RK Abhang School, Ulhasnagar 4 school to guide the students about the importance of protection from cyber crimes, cyber crime complaint portal number 1930.

Rabodi Police Thane, Senior Police Inspector Mr. Hemant Patil organized "Samvad" program for senior citizens at Bramhala Talav, Thane and provided guidance on the safety and security related problems of senior citizens.

In collaboration with Kapurbawdi Police Station and Eagle Brigade Foundation, cyber crime awareness programme taken place. in that event safety of students in the school, dial 112 helpline and discussion sessions had been organized at Bharatiya Sanskar School.
